  • Zarautz

    Zarautz is a coastal city in the central part of Gipuzkoa. Its on the east side of Getaria. Its located 15km to the west of San Sebastian, or barely half hour from Mar y Mar. The bravest could get there from walking from our apartments, following the path of the pilgrimage of Santiago, a walking route that allows to explore Igeldo, its cliffs and Orio village.

    Zarautz has one of the longest beaches in the Basque Country and its famous for its waves for surfing. They have become the town in a touristic center for surf tourism.

  • San Sebastián

    San Sebastian, or Donostia in local Basque, is one of the most touristic cities in the Basque Country. It is known as the "Pearl of the Cantabric", for its bay and the beaches of La Concha (the shell), Ondarreta and Zurriola, for surfing. Also it has been worldly known for its gastronomy. You can find top quality chefs and more popular bars in the old town where you can try local pintxos (the basque version of tapas) so you can try great dishes in small bites.

    Apart of its bay and gastronomy, Donostia has a very living culture, so you will have the chance to visit museums, the old town with the traditional harbour, unique architecture in downtown and sea walks such as the Paseo Nuevo or Peine de los Vientos (Comb of the wind).

  • Getaria

    Getaria is a coastal town located a few kilometres away from San Sebastian (A bit more than half hour from Mar y Mar). It is located between the villages of Zarautz and Zumaia. It is possible to get there by car, public transport, or walking from Zarautz in a nice road next to the sea.

    This town, traditionally of fishermen, has a charming old town and it is the perfect place to try its famous grilled fish. Choose among sea bream, turbot or monkfish. Getaria is famous for being the place of birth of Juan Sebastian Elcano, first sailor to sail around the world, and the clothes designer Cristobal Balenciaga, who has a museum in the village.

  • Orio

    Orio is a little traditional village in the coast of Gipuzkoa. It has a little and quiet beach and restaurants where you can find great quality fish made in the traditional way. The best way to get to Orio from Mar y Mar is accept the challenge to get there walking doing a stage of the pilgrimage of Santiago, following a path exploring Igeldo and admiring the views of the Cantabric Sea and the cliffs. It takes between 2 and 3 hours.

  • Pasajes

    The bay of Pasajes is a natural harbour located at barely 10 minutes by car from San Sebastian. The entrance to the bay is a fantastic and narrow sea pass, between the mountains covered on both sides by colourful houses. The best way to get there from San Sebastian is walking trough Ulia mountain, an easy mountain path that allows you to discover the mountain and enjoy the seascape and the cliffs.

  • Hondarribia

    Hondarribia is considered as one the most beautiful towns in the Basque coast. Separated from France by the Bidasoa river, you can feel the french influences in every corner. The harbour, and the colorfull houses of the old town make this town worthy to visit, and it is located to less than 30 minutes from Mar y Mar.
